Abstract: In this paper, numerical investigation using ethylene glycol (EG) as a base fluid with diamond and SiO2 as the coolants with nanoparticle volume fractions (φ) ranged from 0.1 % to 2 % on automobile flat tube plain fin compact heat exchanger (CHE) is conducted. The convective heat transfer coefficient in the developing regions along the flat tubes with the nanofluid flow showed marked improvement over the base fluid (0 %). Quantitative results of the heat transfer enhancement of CHE with increasing volumetric concentrations of nanofluids at various Reynolds numbers are presented. © 2012 American Institute of Physics.
