Abstract: The effect of H2S gas on gold surface was studied using surface plasmon resonance (SPR) measurements. The optical properties and layer thickness of AuxSy compounds were obtained by fitting angle dependent reflectivity data to the Fresnel theory. The reflectance of the sample was measured as function of incident angle by rotating the sensing prism. The technique was used to characterize the gold surface after exposure at required duration of time to the gas.
